CITI Bank holds the third edition of the CITI-Micro entrepreneurship Awards- 2014 in Kenya


City Bank in collaboration with the Association of Micro Finance Institutions (AMFI) today held the third edition of the CMA Awards at the Sarova Stanley in Nairobi, Kenya
Citi Micro entrepreneurship Awards program is to illustrate and promote the effective role that microfinance plays in poverty alleviation around the world. In particular, the program seeks to generate recognition for the extraordinary contributions that individual micro entrepreneurs have made to the economic sustainability of their families as well as their communities in 33countries.
The specific goals of the Citi Micro Entrepreneurship Awards program are:
1.       To raise awareness of microfinance, particularly among micro entrepreneurs who
Could benefit from it; to recognize and celebrate the contributions that micro entrepreneurs bring to the world economy; and to highlight best practices in micro entrepreneurship.
2.       To raise awareness and support of micro entrepreneurs by highlighting their talents and accomplishments among the investment and donor community throughout the world.
3.       To create the next generation of microfinance networks, build more inclusive financial sectors, and lay the foundation for a flourishing microfinance industry
The introduction of the CMA Awards Alumni Club was received with a lot of enthusiasm by the previous and current Awardees while participants came from across the country. There were 185 entrants for the third edition.
The Chief guest was Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u, the Governor of the central bank of Kenya while other invited guests included top officials from the Association of Micro Finance Institutions (AMFI) , Citi Bank, CMA Awards advisory council and other invited guests. Mr. Richard N. Muteti who is the Chairman of the COMESA Business Council SMEs Workgroup was a Council member and a Judge for the third Edition of the CMA Awards and he awarded the winners of the Women Rural/Urban category during the ceremony.
